Included with Every Cover Order:
Bottom Side Vinyl
Made resist normal wear against spa chemicals and sanitation procedures.
11 ounces of scuff resistant, double-laminated vinyl and polyester in a crosshatch weave creating an interlocking fiber. This fiber provides extremely strong vinyl with a -40 degree cold crack.
The bottom side vinyl is used throughout the spa covers for over 20 points of internal reinforcing.
Channel Reinforcement
Built to provide durable support across the center of the cover
These C-channels are countersunk into special grooves in the core for superior structural integrity using 20 gauge galvanized steel.
Ideal™ spa covers use "C" channels that are manufactured with special reverse ribs for 30% greater strength than other competitors' "C" channels.
Drain Grommets
Located on the bottom vinyl, drain grommets prevent water from accumulating between the vinyl and polyethylene.
Made with non-corrosive, industrial grade acetyl nylon, these grommets maintain a low profile, without protruding, and will not scratch the lip of the spa as cover is slid off.
2 Outside and 2 Inside Gazebo Handles
Ideal™ Spa Covers include 2 outside handles and 2 inside gazebo handles.
Made with tough bottom vinyl, these handles are cross stitched and reinforced for added strength and durability for high stress areas to assure long lasting life and no hassle use.
The gazebo handles are located along the zipper portion of the cover, making them excellent in gazebo applications and use with cover removal systems.
Heat Seal Gaskets
Two specially designed insulating gaskets are located under each half side of the cover, where the cover halves fold together, preventing heat loss between the two cover halves.
These heat seal gaskets automatically seal when the cover is closed.
Each gasket is a vinyl square that is insulated and then sewn into place. Special sewing where no underside threads are used assures sewing stays intact in the event the cover is dragged.
When the cover is removed and left to stand on rough surfaces, the heat seal gaskets protect the bottom of the cover from damage.
Moisture Barrier
An exclusive, confidential sealing method completes a perfect seal every time, which guarantees an Ideal™ Spa Cover foam panel will not absorb water.
After being reinforced, all foam cores are completely sealed in Ideal's™ exclusive VPB 3000 technique. Using state-of-the-art vacuum-sealing equipment and a unique proprietary material, Ideal's foam cores are 10 times more resistant to moisture than the standard 3 and 4 mil polyethylene film used by the other competitors.
Double Wrap Moisture Barrier is also available.
Quality Certificate Number
Each Ideal™ Spa Cover receives a Quality Certificate Number.
The Quality Certificate Number informs management which individual employees manufactured, inspected and boxed a particular spa cover.
For future reference and maintaining your spa cover at the highest level of quality, please keep your certificate with the spa information and warranty.
Safety Cover Compliance
Made in accordance with the ASTM F1346-91 Standard for Manual Safety Covers, all Ideal™ Spa Covers follow ASTM performance test requirements as classified by (UL) Underwriters Laboratories.
ASTM Performance Requirements
Static Load: For spas with a width or diameter greater than 8' from the periphery, the cover shall be able to hold a weight of 485 pounds to permit a rescue operation. For spas with a width or diameter less than or equal to 8', the cover shall withstand the weight of 275 pounds.
Perimeter Deflection: The spa covers are designed that when they are tested, deflection of the cover does not allow the test object to pass between the spa cover and the side of the spa, or to gain access to the water.
Additional Requirements: Special labeling, fastening (locking down), surface drainage and conformance on literature and notifications standards.
4 Safety Strap Tie Downs with Child Proof Locks
Made with tough bottom vinyl, these tie downs are cross stitched and reinforced for added strength and durability for high stress areas to assure long lasting life and no hassle use.
Designed specifically to meet standards set by ASTM for Safety Spa Covers, Ideal™ Spa Covers' locks are made with quick-release buckles and are easily installed with stainless steel screws supplied in the hardware packet.
Each lock may be individually locked with a provided key and is a safer alternative to the previous twist-lock style lock.
Steel Reinforced Hinges
Each extremely strong 1" hinge has four layers of tough vinyl as internal reinforcement.
For added strength and durability in a high stress area, each hinge is double stitched to the top vinyl and put through strenuous testing. The test includes being hooked up to an automatic arm with a SUPERLIFT2™. The cover was then lifted on and off over 8000 times with no significant wear to the hinge.
These hinges are also manufactured for easy compatibility to the many of today's cover removal systems.
Top Side Vinyl
All the vinyl is exclusively produced by SPA- TECH ™- SPASHIELD ™, the leader in the industry. Vinyl used in manufacturing an Ideal Spa Cover is purchased from ISO 9001 suppliers.
Made with top of the line grade 29 oz. marine vinyl included with 100% polyester reinforced backing.
Vinyl is treated with high levels of mildew and UV inhibitors allowing it to pass 1500 hours of rigorous testing with the "Weatherometer" machine. Automobile vinyl fails at 300 hours while Marine Grade Vinyl without these protectants fails at 500 hours.
Thread, Sewing, and Finishing Touches
Each Ideal™ Spa Cover uses a nicely, fine, finished, cotton-wound polyester thread treated with UV and mold inhibitors. The polyester thread provides strength and years of protection against sunlight, weather, and chemicals.
To make a stronger spa cover, Ideal™ Spa Covers uses consistent stitching, clean tie-offs,and a locking backstitching to prevent unraveling. The cotton-wound polyester thread expands to inhibit water penetration through sewing holes. The signature Welting Design gives a four layer seam that is extremely durable.
All Ideal™ Spa Covers have professional sewing that is highly supervised by original experts in sewing construction.
Vacuum Sealed Foam Cores
Ideal™ spa covers only use moisture-resistant, virgin polystyrene foam instead formed-reground or scrap foam found in inferior covers.
The foam is tapered 4"-2" (pitched) which allows for the greatest water run-off rate available. This rate is twice that of other competitors creating longer life span for an Ideal™ Spa Cover even in extremely wet climates.
Foam densities available range from R-15 for 1 lb. density foam to R-19 for 2lb. density foam and R-22 for Super Nova Super Foam.
1 lb. Foam R-15 with exclusive Moisture Barrier Seal and UL Listed-ASTM Certified
2 lb. Foam R-19 with exclusive Moisture Barrier Seal and UL Listed-ASTM Certified
Super Foam R-22 with exclusive Moisture Barrier Seal and UL Listed-ASTM Certified.
The Super-Nova (SuperFoam™) adds strength, safety, energy efficiency, and resistance to moisture absorption and heat flow in a lightweight material with its plank molded closed-cell expanded polystyrene 2.5 LB density foam core and a R-Value of 22. SuperFoam™ was originally developed as insulation to provide protection against extreme cold and permafrost conditions such as the Alaskan Pipeline, airport runways, and under oil drilling platforms.
The individual sheets of SuperFoam™ are manufactured in a way that forces separate beads of polystyrene to compact into the confined space of a mold that tapers from 4" to 2" over a 4' x 8' span. This controlled process produces a consistent product with greater adhesion between the individual beads than other types of polystyrene foam. The greater fusion between the individual beads creates a much stronger insulation core with a greater resistance to heat flow then any conventional polystyrene foam. The exceptional resistance to heat flow delivers 20% better R-value than conventional 1.5 lb. density polystyrene insulation. SuperFoam™ is available only in Ideal™ spa covers.
1.5 lb. Foam R-17 (Flat) with exclusive Moisture Barrier Seal and UL Listed-ASTM Certified
