Spa Cover Measuring Tips

  • Exact measurements are not necessary, but you should avoid making a cover too small because it will not hold heat in and allow dirt and debris in.
  • We recommend using 2 people for measuring. 1 person to hold and 1 person to read the measurements.
  • If in doubt, make a measurement about 1" larger than the final measurement.
  • Please verify your measurements before placing an order.

Measuring only Spa Acrylic vs including Wood Rim?

Including the wood rim in your measurements, avoids creating a place for leaves and debris to settle. However, measurements with or without the wood rim is a personal preference. This decision does not alter energy efficiency of the spa cover and spa.

If you would prefer the spa cover flap/skirt to hand straight down, we recommend measuring the cover long enough to do so. If the lip of the spa is at an angle, measuring your spa cover long enough will allow it to hang straight down. If the cover is too short, the cover flap/skirt will stick out. Ensure the spa cover flap/skirt is long enough to cover the spa lip or spa cabinet rim as illustrated below. 3" long is the standard length.

2. How to Measure the Radius of a Curved Spa

NOTE: Not applicable to 90o corners, cut corners, or round spas.spa-cover-square-70x70.jpgspa-cover-square-w-cut-corners-70x70.jpgspa-cover-round-70x70.jpg

  • Do NOT make the radius measurement too big for it WILL NOT cover the radius corner of your spa.
  • If your measurement is too small, it will still cover your spa corners. There may be a little over hang but it will not be very noticable.
  • When in doubt, take the smaller measurement for the spa cover radius corner.
  • See illustrations below for assistance.

The distance between the corner of the carpenter's square and the place where it touches the spa 'A' equals the radius of the curve 'B'.

Example: If the spa cover radius is measured too big, it will NOT fit and cover the radius corners of the spa. Example: If the spa cover radius is measured too small, it will still fit the spa but will extend past the radius corners. The lighter brown color shows an example of the spa cover extending past the spa radius corner.
